Biography

With deep sadness we share the loss of Kevin McGuigan, who passed peacefully on June 8th, 2022, at age 67, surrounded by family. Kevin was a remarkable person. A loving husband of 43 years to Coleen, a proud father to his four sons, Ryan (Dallas), Cory (Chantelle), Mark, and Trevor (Annie), and to his grandsons, Colin, Evan, and Dawson, and his granddaughter, Riley. Kevin was born on Prince Edward Island, son of the late Theodore and Mary (McCarron) McGuigan, and raised on a farm with his eight siblings, Donna (Ed) Kilfoil, Virginia (Harold) Affleck, Pauline (Ash) McGuigan, Michael (Carol) McGuigan, Bernadette (Dave) Gallant, Rudy McGuigan, Bobby McGuigan, and the late Garry McGuigan. Kevin is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his brother-in-law, Kirk Johnson, and pre-deceased by his sister-in-law, Trisha Johnson. Kevin was dedicated to his family – carting his four sons to every activity, coaching them in every sport, and in life. Kevin had a long and successful career as an accountant with Revenue Canada in Halifax. He loved his work. He was known for his impressive memory and sharp math skills. Kevin endured many hardships in life, though he did not see it that way. For the past 35 years he suffered from Parkinson’s. Despite overwhelming challenges, Kevin did not complain or dwell on what he could not change. He lived with perseverance and optimism, and without regret. Despite the disease’s progression, Kevin was able to live at home because of the love, care, and support of his wife Coleen. He lived the best life he could thanks to her. Kevin will be dearly missed and always loved and remembered. Donations can be made in Kevin’s name to the Parkinson’s Society Nova Scotia (parkinsonsocietynovascotia.com/donate/).
