Sheila Holmes

Dec 8th 1947 — Jan 8th 2023 (75 years)

Biography

Sheila was raised in Maltby, Yorkshire in the UK, before living an adventurous life including in London UK, Kitwie Zambia, Toronto Canada and settling for the last 20ish years in the rolling hills of Campbellford, Ontario.

In each place Sheila surrounded herself with close friends and a strong community. She is forever grateful for all the friendships and love through the years.

She was proud to have left a convent school (before graduation) to move to Africa and go on to graduate with honours from York University and then was a Dean's List Scholar at U of T Law School. She had a successful family law practice in Toronto, where she provided practical advice to thousands of clients in marriage, divorce and custody disputes. She was passionate about helping her clients and providing them with the support to move on and thrive.

Sheila raised her daughter Emily Stock in Toronto where Emily continues to reside with her husband (Scott) and daughter (Kaitlyn). Sheila was predeceased in 2013 by her husband Mike Anderson, with whom she lived for many years, with many dogs and other animals, at their farm, Tir-nan-og (“land of peace”). Sheila leaves behind her two sons (Philip (Eileen) and Oli (Angela) Wells), her daughter, and three stepdaughters (Jackie (Scott), Susie and Judy (Kevin) Anderson), along with their families, including her grandchildren (Abby, Tessa, Megan, Michael, Iris, Sorely and Kaitlyn) who were loved and magnificent in her eyes.

Sheila left the world the way she lived in it - with dignity, and on her own terms - one month after her 75th birthday.

Sheila's favourite charities include Dying with Dignity, and donations to your favourite charity in her honour are appreciated. Sheila did not want a funeral or celebration of life, and so we ask that you raise a glass and share stories in more intimate celebrations for “the Lady Sheila.”
