Shirley Elizabeth Street , age 88, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday January 7, 2023.
Shirley was born in Meaford Ontario to George Albert Street and Ruby Violet Claridge. Shirley leaves behind her children, David (Maria) Frickelton and Lori (John)Wilton; 6 Grandchildren, Costa, Mathew (Fernando), Willie (Amanda), Janna, Evana, Bradley (Sara) as well as one precious Great Grandchild, Ellie whom she adored. Shirley also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was predeceased by her 8 siblings.
Shirley travelled extensively. She lived in France, Washington State, Ottawa, Toronto and Halifax.
Most of her working career was spent in Ottawa where she worked for the township of Nepean organizing antique shows and heritage fairs as well as with the Ontario government with the department of agriculture.
She enjoyed travelling with her many friends - some favourites were Portugal, Spain, Winters in Florida, cruises as well as many trips down east to visit her grandchildren.
Shirley was a strong, independent woman who loved and was loved by many. Her faith in Jesus carried her through the difficult times and gave her hope beyond this life.
We are grieving, thankful for her life and hopeful for the day we meet again.
We will have 2 memorial services - January 14, 2023 in Toronto (Immanuel Baptist Church, 1100 Finch Ave East, North York) at 1pm and January 21, 2023 in Halifax (Birch Cove Baptist Church, 50 Donaldson Avenue) at 1:30pm.
