Susan

Susan Reinhart

Mar 1st 1951 — Jun 30th 2022 (71 years)

Biography

Susan Rose Reinhart will live on within the hearts of all of us who were lucky enough to know her. She passed on June 30, 2022 at Georgian Triangle Hospice in Collingwood, Ontario, at the age of 71.

Susan was born in Guelph, Ontario to parents Herb and Margaret Bellamy. It was in Guelph where she met and married the love of her life, Gerry, who predeceased her in 2015.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey and wife Sasha (Courtenay, BC), daughter Julie and husband Scott (Collingwood, ON), and her beloved granddaughter Stella (Collingwood, ON).

Susan loved nothing more than to take care of those she loved. She was always checking in with friends and family, or making a meal for them or chatting on the phone. It was connection that mattered the most to her. Susan loved to entertain and celebrate. She and Gerry were fond of hosting dinner parties and card games with friends.

Susan had a special sense of humour and was fun to be around. Always truly concerned about those she loved and how they were doing, she wouldn’t hesitate to lend a hand or offer a cold drink!

It came naturally to Susan to teach others, in part because she had more patience than most, in part because she had a particularly strong will, and in part because she had a passion to see others succeed. Plus, you just couldn’t put much past her! She was a fiercely loyal and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother (“Grammie”), and friend. She learned to be strong and resilient and it carried her through life.

Susan dedicated many years of her life to her work as an educational assistant at St. Peter Elementary School, a vocation which she genuinely loved and took great pride in. Through her work, she made friendships that she cherished and she made an important difference in the lives of many children, some of whom kept in touch with her throughout their adult lives.

In her last years, her most important role was caring for her "Bestie" Stella. Susan was a truly special grandmother to Stella. They had a close bond that was very beautiful to watch. We are so thankful for her sturdy and continued presence in Stella’s life, teaching Stella to treat others with kindness and respect, to read and write, to bake and tidy up after herself, and to get a laugh out of life.

Susan battled for many months to recover from a devastating stroke, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries. She is now at peace, reunited with her dear Gerry. Her family will celebrate Susan in private and would welcome receiving messages and memories from those who knew and loved her. Messages can be left here on this celebratory website.
