Biography

Bill was adventurous, loving, and a master in all forms of humour. He had a great love of animals and had a gift in connecting and helping people.

Bill was the middle child of a large family. A family event was never complete unless he was present telling amazing (sometimes preposterous) stories. His unique laugh always filled any room. Practical light-hearted jokes and pranks were his joy and, other than a few high school teachers, most people enjoyed them. Bill’s ability to make anyone feel special will be unmatched.

Bill spent his childhood and teen years in Wallaceburg and Brantford, Ontario. He completed his studies at Laurier, Western and York Universities in zoology. He joined an international team studying wildlife in the jungles of Costa Rica, paddled down the Amazon and crawled through caves in India in search of Flying Foxes. Bill was featured on The Discovery Channel and many media outlets for his expertise on bats and his business, Bill Bat Boy. He was larger than life in every sense as evidenced by his Bill Bat Boy van, easily visible on the streets of Toronto and surrounding areas. Bill journeyed often to a remote village in Peru, which became his second home. He loved the families in the village and often would arrive with Christmas presents from Canada for the children.

Bill will be missed by his siblings Coleen, Myra, Sheila, John and Martha as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his parents, Martha Louise and John Milton, brother Daniel and brother-in-law Paul Moore. His best friend of many years, Tamara Jakes will also greatly miss her laughing companion.

Bill greatly valued his involvement with Casey House. His last passion was Seeds of Hope, where he made a significant impact through his volunteer work. He will be tremendously missed by the community he helped.

The family request that donations be made in his name to Seeds of Hope https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/12446?v1=true Or Casey House https://caseyhouse.ca/support-us/donate-now/
